History of River of Life

The River of Life began long before The Pump House was a reality in the natural. God had told my husband, Bruce Wilkinson, and I, as well as others, that He was going to give us this building in Ashland, called the pump house building. Formerly, this property was used by F.E. Myers pump manufacturer. We believed God for the property! We believed His Word. We were serving the Lord already through various ministries when God led us to name our ministry the Pump House and pray in the vision that He was going to give us the property. Men and women began to pray and trust in the Lord to fulfill His Word. One day prior to fulfillment of the Lord’s promise, the Lord led me (Marylou) to the parking lot of the Pump House. He told me to open up my Bible to Ezekiel and read. He brought me to Chapter 47:1-12 and I began to believe this Word for the Pump House Ministries…

Ezekiel 47

The River of Healing

1 In my vision, the man brought me back to the entrance of the Temple. There I saw a stream flowing east from beneath the door of the Temple and passing to the right of the altar on its south side. 2 The man brought me outside the wall through the north gateway and led me around to the eastern entrance. There I could see the water flowing out through the south side of the east gateway.

3 Measuring as he went, he took me along the stream for 1,750 feet[a] and then led me across. The water was up to my ankles. 4 He measured off another 1,750 feet and led me across again. This time the water was up to my knees. After another 1,750 feet, it was up to my waist. 5 Then he measured another 1,750 feet, and the river was too deep to walk across. It was deep enough to swim in, but too deep to walk through.

6 He asked me, “Have you been watching, son of man?” Then he led me back along the riverbank. 7 When I returned, I was surprised by the sight of many trees growing on both sides of the river. 8 Then he said to me, “This river flows east through the desert into the valley of the Dead Sea.[b] The waters of this stream will make the salty waters of the Dead Sea fresh and pure. 9 There will be swarms of living things wherever the water of this river flows. Fish will abound in the Dead Sea, for its waters will become fresh. Life will flourish wherever this water flows. 10 Fishermen will stand along the shores of the Dead Sea. All the way from En-gedi to En-eglaim, the shores will be covered with nets drying in the sun. Fish of every kind will fill the Dead Sea, just as they fill the Mediterranean.[c] 11 But the marshes and swamps will not be purified; they will still be salty. 12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.”

I believed then and I still believe to this day that the Lord gave me this Word for a reason. I know that He has called me to intercede for the ministries here at the Pump House and for more. I trust that the river (Holy Spirit) is flowing forth through the Pump House and others in the body of Christ, into our community (Ashland, Ohio) and beyond. Revival has begun and continues. The Lord desires to move among His people here. He wants to heal our land and He will if we let Him. His Holy Spirit is life to those who invite Him in. People come into the Pump House every day seeking change and God heals them. The trees growing on the banks of the River represent the men and women called by God to sacrifice their lives and serve God here. The fish represent those whom Christ is sending to us to lead them to Him. So many lives desperately need a loving touch from God. Are you one of them? We are showing God’s love in practical ways here at the Pump House. We desire for all humankind to reach their full potential in Christ Jesus. We believe in the Great Commission and the call to disciple God’s people. Not all the world will embrace what we do here but that’s alright. God has a plan and it is good. We desire to be connected with and to serve with the body of Christ regardless of denominations. In verse 12, the Word says that we will bear fruit every month. It is a blessing to be in the center of Christ’s will, allowing the Holy Spirit to use us, and we are blessed to watch Him be glorified here. The River of Life was named after this Word that God gave to me on that day.
